Anti-wrinkle injections
Anti-wrinkle injections use Botulinum toxin type A to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. These injections temporarily paralyse the muscles responsible for creating dynamic wrinkles, leading to a smoother, more youthful appearance.
How they work
When injected into specific muscles, the toxin blocks the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that signals muscles to contract. This temporary blockage relaxes the muscle.
With the muscle relaxed, the skin above it smooths out, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements like frowning or squinting.
Common treatment areas
Anti-wrinkle injections are most commonly used to treat:
- Forehead Lines: Horizontal lines caused by raising the eyebrows.
- Frown Lines: Vertical lines between the eyebrows, also known as "glabella lines" or "11 lines".
- Crow’s Feet: Lines radiating from the outer corners of the eyes.

Cleaning: The treatment area will be thoroughly cleaned to prevent infection.Injection Technique: Using a very fine needle, your practitioner will inject small amounts of Botulinum toxin into the targeted muscles. The number of injections will depend on the extent of the treatment area.
Duration: The injection process typically takes about 10-20 minutes.
Post-Injection
Aftercare Instructions: You’ll receive instructions on how to care for the treated area. This usually includes avoiding rubbing the area, strenuous activity, and lying down for a few hours post-treatment.
Immediate Effects: Some minor swelling, redness, or bruising may occur, but these side effects usually subside within a few hours to a couple of days.
Results and expectations
Onset of Results: Initial effects are usually noticeable within 5-7 days, with full results appearing around two weeks after treatment.
Duration of Effects: The results typically last between 3-6 months, depending on factors such as the area treated, the amount of product used, and individual metabolism.
